CVE-2025-61156Known exploitationPublic exploit

Protected-process termination via unrestricted driver handle

Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025

Improper access control in ThreatFire System Monitor 4.7.0.53 allows local users to terminate protected processes through TfSysMon.sys. The driver device lacks a restrictive DACL, so low-privileged users can open \.\TfSysMon and submit IOCTL 0xb4a00404 with a chosen process ID for kernel-mode termination. A local low-privileged account is required; successful use can stop PPL-protected security agents or critical system processes, enabling EDR evasion or a local service interruption.
