Crash or memory disclosure via UTF-8 length mishandling
Published Oct 28, 2025 · Updated Oct 28, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in Monkey's Audio 11.31 allows attackers to crash the application or read adjacent memory via crafted UTF-8 input. CAPECharacterHelper::GetUTF16FromUTF8 mishandles the supplied UTF-8 string length and reads beyond the input buffer during conversion. Reaching the flaw requires untrusted UTF-8 data to reach the conversion routine; the public record does not identify a specific file or network path.
