CVE-2025-60948Network attack vector

Victim-browser script execution via unencoded profile fields

Published Mar 23, 2026 · Updated Mar 23, 2026

Stored cross-site scripting in U.S. Census Bureau CSWeb 8.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute JavaScript in a victim's browser. A user-supplied profile field such as firstName is stored and later rendered in the back-office interface without output encoding or sanitization. A low-privileged account must save the payload and an authenticated victim must view the affected record, exposing that browser session to data access or actions under the victim's privileges.
