Authenticated file disclosure via unsanitized path resolution
Published Mar 23, 2026 · Updated Mar 23, 2026
Path traversal in U.S. Census Bureau CSWeb 8.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to read arbitrary server-side files via crafted path input. The public record does not identify the affected endpoint or function; CSWeb resolves unsanitized paths containing traversal sequences outside the intended directory. A valid CSWeb account is required, and disclosure is limited to files readable by the web-service process.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
