Authenticated command execution via unescaped firmware filename
Published Oct 24, 2025 · Updated Oct 24, 2025
Command injection in Emoncms 11.7.3 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary commands through a firmware upload request. The /admin/upload-custom-firmware handler concatenates the client-supplied filename and firmware parameters into runService attributes that PHP exec passes to a shell without escaping. Exploitation requires valid administrator credentials and Redis disabled, and commands run with the web application's privileges.
