Code execution via unvalidated archive ADS paths
Published Jul 22, 2026 · Updated Jul 22, 2026
Path traversal in IZArc 4.6 and earlier allows context-dependent attackers to write outside the extraction directory through a crafted RAR archive. The bundled unrar.dll fails to validate Alternate Data Stream entries before writing attacker-named archive content to disk. A user must open and extract the archive; content written to the Windows Startup folder executes with that user's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
