Local code execution via unqualified libcef.dll load
Published Oct 31, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
DLL search-order hijacking in Trimble SketchUp Desktop 2025 allows local users to execute arbitrary code through a crafted libcef.dll. The sketchup_webhelper.exe process requests libcef.dll without a fully qualified path, so Windows loads an attacker-controlled copy placed earlier in the DLL search order. Exploitation requires filesystem access to a searched location and runs the replacement library with the privileges of sketchup_webhelper.exe.
