Service interruption via expiration-date buffer overflow
Published Jul 3, 2025 · Updated Jul 3, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in ABB RMC-100 and RMC-100 LITE firmware allows remote attackers to stop the system node via REST. The MQTTCore REST path accepts an overlong date-of-expiration value in JSON configuration and writes it past the stack buffer boundary. Exploitation requires the disabled-by-default REST interface, control-network access, and prior exploitation of the companion authentication bypass; affected builds can be forced to stop.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
