Code execution via unchecked CGI concatenation
Published Nov 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Stack-based buffer overflow in Linksys E1200 v2 firmware 2.0.11.001 allows remote attackers to execute code or crash the router. The get_merge_ipaddr function uses strcat to append four attacker-controlled CGI values to a fixed-size stack buffer without checking the destination capacity. The CVE record states that no authentication is required, but a later working-exploit analysis reports that HTTP Basic authentication is required.
