Local code execution via unbounded stat parsing
Published Nov 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Stack buffer overflow in the sysconf binary of ToToLink A720R firmware 4.1.5cu.614_B20230630 allows local users to execute code. The sub_401EE0 function reads a line from /proc/stat and passes it to sscanf with an unbounded %s conversion targeting a single-byte stack variable, overwriting adjacent memory. Exploitation requires control of /proc/stat or local filesystem write access; successful memory corruption can execute code in the sysconf process context.
