Local command execution via unescaped interface names
Published Nov 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Command injection in TOTOLINK A720R Router firmware 4.1.5cu.614_B20230630 allows local users to execute arbitrary commands. The sysconf sub_40BFA4 function accepts eth or wlan prefixes from /var/system/linux_vlan_reinit, formats the complete value into ifconfig and vconfig shell commands, and passes them to system() without escaping. Exploitation requires write access to that file, and injected commands execute on the router when sysconf processes it.
