CVE-2025-60679Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Code execution via overlong firmware version string

Published Nov 13, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026

Stack buffer overflow in D-Link DIR-816A2 firmware 1.10CNB05_R1B011D88210 allows remote authenticated users to execute arbitrary code. The upload.cgi module reads up to 511 bytes from /proc/version, then uses sprintf() to prepend a 29-byte command string into another 512-byte stack buffer without checking the combined length. Exploitation requires control of /proc/version content; input longer than 481 bytes overwrites the destination buffer and enables code execution on the router.
