Service interruption via unsafe BDT type assertion
Published Nov 24, 2025 · Updated Nov 24, 2025
Type assertion panic in the PCF component of free5GC 4.0.0 and 4.0.1 allows remote attackers to interrupt request processing. HandleCreateBDTPolicyContextRequest casts deepcopy.Copy(requestMsg) to *models.BdtReqData even though the copy is a value, causing a Go runtime panic. The PCF endpoint must process the crafted POST request; OAuth-enabled deployments require a valid bearer token, and panic recovery returns HTTP 500.
