Service crash via malformed configuration upload
Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Oct 14, 2025
Denial of service in Provectus kafka-ui 0.6.0 through 0.7.2 allows remote attackers to crash the service via a crafted configuration upload. SchemaRegistrySerde.configure requests the uploaded Schema Registry password as a String without first rejecting malformed input or a mismatched property type. Unauthenticated network access to Configure New Cluster is sufficient, and the demonstrated consequence is interruption of the kafka-ui process.
