Process crash via unchecked AC-4 DSI pointer
Published Jun 1, 2026 · Updated Jun 1, 2026
NULL pointer dereference in GPAC MP4Box before 26.02.0 allows attackers to crash the process by supplying a crafted AC-4 file. The gf_odf_ac4_cfg_dsi_v1 routine in src/odf/descriptors.c dereferences a missing or invalid DSI substructure while MP4Box imports AC-4 descriptor data. Exploitation requires the crafted file to be processed, such as with MP4Box -info, and interrupts only the affected process without reported data disclosure or modification.
