Process crash via premature PID instance deletion
Published Jun 24, 2026 · Updated Jun 24, 2026
Use-after-free in GPAC MP4Box before 26.02.0 allows attackers to crash the process when a user opens a crafted MPEG-2 TS file. During filter-chain reconfiguration, gf_filter_pid_inst_swap_delete frees a PID instance while a queued gf_filter_pid_reconfigure_task_discard task still references it. Processing corrupted PMT descriptors and invalid transport-stream packets triggers the condition; the demonstrated result is a crash without confidentiality or integrity impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
