Subscriber-to-Administrator takeover via unchecked password reset
Published Oct 9, 2025 · Updated Oct 9, 2025
Privilege escalation in Pebas Lisfinity Core 1.4.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to reset arbitrary account passwords. The plugin's password-update path accepts a user-controlled account identifier without verifying that it belongs to the requesting user. Subscriber-level access is sufficient to replace an administrator's password, enabling account takeover and administrative control of the WordPress site.
