Code execution via DefaultFontOptions out-of-bounds read
Published Sep 30, 2025 · Updated Sep 30, 2025
Out-of-bounds read in NI Circuit Design Suite 14.3.1 and earlier allows attackers to execute code via a crafted .sym file. The Symbol Editor's DefaultFontOptions() routine inadequately validates font-option data and reads beyond its intended memory boundary. Exploitation requires a user to open the file and can disclose process memory or execute code in that user's context.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
