SYSTEM privilege escalation via unquoted service path
Published Oct 29, 2025 · Updated Oct 29, 2025
Local privilege escalation in memoQ 10.1.13.ef1b2b52aae and earlier allows local users to execute code as SYSTEM through its update service. The memoQ Auto Update Service memoQauhlp101 registers an unquoted executable path containing spaces, so Windows checks C:\Program.exe before the intended binary. Exploitation requires write access to an earlier path location and a service start or reboot; a successful payload runs with SYSTEM privileges.
