Privilege escalation via unchecked session authorization
Published Oct 10, 2025 · Updated Jul 5, 2026
Incorrect access control in SourceCodester Online Student Clearance System 1.0 allows remote authenticated users to perform admin operations. Administrative request handlers accept a low-privilege user's session cookie without enforcing the account's role, allowing protected data additions. A valid low-privilege account is required, and the demonstrated consequence is unauthorized creation of database-backed records.
