Unauthenticated discounts via unvalidated tip values
Published Aug 15, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Improper input validation in Order Tip for WooCommerce 1.5.4 and earlier allows remote attackers to obtain unauthorized discounts via tip values. The checkout flow trusts the client-controlled data-tip attribute and applies its numeric value as a WooCommerce fee without server-side range validation. No account is required; a negative or excessive tip reduces the payable order total, including to zero.
