Root privilege escalation via unflagged temporary XFS mount
Published Jun 19, 2025 · Updated Jun 30, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Storaged Project libblockdev before 3.3.1 allows local users with allow_active status to gain root access. Its XFS resize path temporarily mounts an attacker-supplied image without nosuid and nodev, preserving a planted SUID-root shell. Access to an active local session and the udisks resize action is required; successful exploitation grants full control of the host.
