Routing disruption via malformed BGP attribute propagation
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Improper exceptional-condition handling in Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved rpd allows remote attackers to disrupt downstream routing. The daemon erroneously modifies a specific optional transitive BGP attribute before forwarding it, causing peers to treat the attribute as malformed and terminate their BGP sessions. An existing BGP session must deliver the attribute; the resulting session loss produces routing churn rather than a crash of the affected device.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
