rpd crash via optional transitive BGP attributes
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Buffer over-read in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows remote attackers to crash and restart rpd through BGP updates. The routing daemon reads beyond the attribute buffer while processing specific optional transitive attributes for advertisement to another peer. Reachability requires an established BGP session and at least one non-4-byte-AS-capable peer, a nondefault condition that interrupts routing while rpd restarts.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
