DHCP service takeover via world-writable control socket
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Incorrect socket permissions in Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allow local users to take over the DHCP service. The jdhcpd management Unix socket is world-writable, so any logged-in low-privileged account can connect and issue DHCP server or relay commands. This grants administrative control over the local DHCP service; operating-system-wide privilege escalation has not been reported.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
