Routing daemon restart via untrusted pointer dereference
Published Jan 15, 2026 · Updated Jan 15, 2026
Untrusted pointer dereference in rpd on Juniper Networks Junos OS and Junos OS Evolved allows local users to restart the daemon. The rpd route-display path dereferences an untrusted pointer while formatting detailed BGP output for a route with specific attributes. Low-privileged authenticated CLI access is sufficient; the resulting crash interrupts and restarts rpd, while extensive output is unaffected.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
