Account takeover via unsandboxed feed event handlers
Published Sep 29, 2025 · Updated Sep 29, 2025
Cross-site scripting in FreshRSS before 1.27.0 allows remote authenticated users to take over accounts through crafted feed content. Feed sanitization leaves certain HTML event-handler attributes intact, while api/query.php renders the resulting entries without a Content Security Policy that blocks script execution. Exploitation requires administrator-enabled API access and a victim to load the query output; an administrator victim exposes administrative actions.
