CVE-2025-59933

PDF processing halt via unchecked zero page height

Published Sep 29, 2025 · Updated Sep 29, 2025

Buffer over-read in libvips before 8.17.2 allows attackers to halt PDF processing via a crafted PDF page header. The Poppler pdfload header path accepts a MediaBox with a missing height, converts Poppler's zero value into a zero-sized page, and continues without validating the dimensions. Only builds with Poppler PDF input are exposed; processing stops shortly after the over-read without output or access to the over-read memory.
