Stored XSS via unreserved iframe configuration attributes
Published Sep 25, 2025 · Updated Sep 25, 2025
Stored XSS in Star Citizen Tools EmbedVideo 4.0.0 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript via crafted wikitext. The client code parses user-controlled JSON from data-iframeconfig and applies every entry to an iframe with setAttribute, accepting event handlers such as onload. Exploitation requires crafted page content and a visitor to activate the video controls, after which script runs in that visitor’s browser context.
