Privilege escalation via unchecked badge assignment
Published Sep 24, 2025 · Updated Sep 24, 2025
Missing authorization in Flag Forge 2.1.0 allows remote authenticated users to assign themselves high-privilege badges. The /api/admin/assign-badge endpoint accepts a badge assignment without verifying that the requester has sufficient server-side permissions. Any account able to reach the endpoint can obtain a Staff badge, escalating privileges and enabling impersonation of an administrative role.
