CVE-2025-59799Public exploit

Memory corruption via oversized pdfmark destination

Published Sep 22, 2025 · Updated Sep 22, 2025

Stack-based buffer overflow in Artifex Software Ghostscript through 10.05.1 allows local users to corrupt process memory via pdfmark input. The pdfmark_coerce_dest function trusts dstr->size and processes the destination into a MAX_DEST_STRING stack buffer without first rejecting oversized values. Reachability requires processing attacker-controlled PostScript through the pdfwrite device; public evidence confirms memory corruption but not code execution.
