Administrator RCE via unsafe action-log deserialization
Published Sep 19, 2025 · Updated Sep 19, 2025
Unsafe deserialization in Snipe-IT before 8.1.18 allows remote authenticated users with administrator access to execute server code. ActionlogsTransformer.php decrypts encrypted custom-field values from action-log metadata and passes them to PHP unserialize without disabling object creation. Exploitation requires administrator or superadministrator credentials, a restored crafted backup, and access to the activity-report route; a Laravel POP chain executes commands as the web-service account.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
