CVE-2025-59433Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Arbitrary file overwrite via injected Git option

Published Sep 22, 2025 · Updated Sep 22, 2025

Argument injection in @conventional-changelog/git-client before 2.0.0 allows remote authenticated users to overwrite arbitrary files. The getTags() API forwards unvalidated caller-supplied parameters to git log without an option terminator, so an injected --output option selects any writable path. Exploitation requires a consuming application to pass attacker-controlled parameters to getTags(), and file writes use that application's filesystem privileges.
