SQL injection via unescaped WFS PropertyName
Published Sep 19, 2025 · Updated Sep 19, 2025
SQL injection in MapServer 8.4.0 WFS XML filters allows remote attackers to manipulate backend database queries via PropertyName. FLTGetCommonExpression passes a double-quote-bearing PropertyName to OGR without layer-aware column-name escaping, so crafted XML becomes SQL syntax. Exploitation requires an exposed WFS endpoint using an OGR-backed layer; the demonstrated Boolean predicate changes row-selection logic.
