Account takeover via trusted reset-link injection
Published Jun 10, 2026 · Updated Jun 10, 2026
URL injection in QNAP QVP 2.7.1 allows remote attackers to steal password-reset credentials through an attacker-controlled link. The reset_password.cgi send_mail function trusts the client-supplied url parameter, embeds it in a legitimate reset email, and appends the reset token. Victim interaction is required; opening the link discloses the token, and submitting the emailed code to the phishing page enables an administrator-password reset.
