NTLM hash disclosure via crafted library file
Published Oct 14, 2025 · Updated Feb 22, 2026
NTLM hash disclosure in Microsoft Windows Core Shell allows remote attackers to obtain a user's NTLM hash via a crafted .library-ms file. Public sources do not identify the exact Core Shell path-handling operation that fails to constrain the attacker-controlled network reference. The target user must interact with the file, after which Windows sends credential material to an attacker-controlled resource without reported integrity or availability impact.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
Is a vulnerable build present?
Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
