CVE-2025-59150Network attack vector

Remote service crash via NULL SAN dereference

Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 23, 2025

NULL pointer dereference in Open Information Security Foundation Suricata 8.0.0 allows remote attackers to crash via a crafted TLS certificate. While evaluating tls.subjectaltname rules, TlsSubjectAltNameGetData passes a NULL decoded SAN entry to strlen instead of treating its length as zero. Exploitation requires an enabled rule using that keyword and traffic containing a certificate with a NUL byte, causing a segmentation fault and service interruption.
