CVE-2025-59147Network attack vector

Unauthenticated detection bypass via mismatched SYN tracking

Published Oct 1, 2025 · Updated Oct 1, 2025

Detection bypass in OISF Suricata 7.0.11 and earlier and 8.0.0 allows remote attackers to evade IDS alerts with crafted TCP traffic. The TCP stream tracker replaces session state for repeated SYN packets instead of retaining sequence-specific candidates for later SYN/ACK matching. An unauthenticated attacker able to send monitored traffic can hide a TCP session in IDS mode; IPS mode blocks the flow instead.
