OS command execution via shell-interpolated branch name
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025
Command injection in Nino Filiu interactive-git-checkout 1.1.4 and earlier allows attackers to execute OS commands via a branch name. The src/checkout.js and src/checkoutToNew.js paths interpolate the selected or new branch name into shell command strings passed to child_process.exec(). A crafted branch name must reach the interactive CLI; the injected command then runs with the privileges of the account that launches the tool.
