Published Nov 6, 2025 · Updated Nov 6, 2025
Arbitrary file upload in Helmut Wandl Advanced Settings 3.1.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to upload a web shell. The flaw is reached through the activated Automatically generate Post Thumbnail feature, but published records do not identify the affected function or missing file-validation operation. Author-level access and activation of that feature are required; an uploaded executable file can run as a web shell on the WordPress server.
