CVE-2025-5899Public exploit

Local process crash via uninitialized pointer free

Published Jun 9, 2025 · Updated Jun 10, 2025

Invalid memory free in GNU Project PSPP 82fb509fb2fedd33e7ac0c46ca99e108bb3bdffb allows local users to crash pspp-convert with a crafted file. The parse_variables_option function in utilities/pspp-convert.c calls free on an uninitialized pointer while processing variable-selection options. Exploitation requires local access and invocation of pspp-convert with the crafted input; the demonstrated consequence is termination of that utility.
