Local crash via malformed system file
Published Jun 9, 2025 · Updated Jun 10, 2025
Out-of-bounds write in GNU PSPP 82fb509fb2fedd33e7ac0c46ca99e108bb3bdffb allows local users to crash pspp-convert via a crafted file. After a malformed header claims four variable positions but yields none, parse_variables_option reaches deallocation and AddressSanitizer records a write fault. Exploitation requires local execution of pspp-convert against the crafted SPSS system file and interrupts that conversion process.
