Build denial of service via icon-link regex
Published Jun 9, 2025 · Updated Jun 10, 2025
Regular expression denial of service in Vue CLI 5.0.8 and earlier allows attackers controlling project HTML to stall PWA builds. HtmlPwaPlugin applies an icon-link expression that repeatedly rescans long sequences of incomplete link tags, consuming excessive CPU. Reachability requires control of build input, and a Vue CLI maintainer disputes exploitability because plugin users already fully control that HTML.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
