Browser script execution via unescaped 404 URL
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025
Reflected XSS in Webrecorder wabac.js 2.23.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to execute JavaScript through a crafted archive URL. The getHTMLNotFound function in src/notfound.ts interpolates requestURL directly into a quoted inline-script assignment without JavaScript-safe encoding. Exploitation requires a victim to open the malicious URL; the resulting script runs in the archive viewer, while the error page's CORS policy limits some effects.
