Memory corruption and service interruption via unchecked indexes
Published Sep 9, 2025 · Updated Sep 10, 2025
Out-of-bounds access in rAthena before commit 0cc348b allows remote attackers to corrupt memory or interrupt the character server. The chclif_parse_moveCharSlot handler uses attacker-controlled source and destination slot indexes to access char_moves and found_char before validating them against MAX_CHARS. A network client needs no privileges or user interaction; crafted character-slot requests can alter process memory and terminate the service.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
