CVE-2025-58713

Container root escalation via group-writable passwd file

Published Apr 8, 2026 · Updated Apr 8, 2026

Privilege escalation in Red Hat Process Automation Manager 7 container images allows local users to gain root access within a container. The affected images create /etc/passwd with group-write permission, letting a root-group member add an account assigned UID 0. Exploitation requires command execution inside the container and root-group membership; the resulting privileges remain within that container.
