Virtual machine escape via firmware command race
Published Nov 17, 2025 · Updated Nov 17, 2025
TOCTOU race in Imagination Technologies Graphics DDK 25.2 RTM1 allows guest OS users to escape a VM and read or write out-of-bounds memory. GPU firmware checks psFWMemContext->uiPageCatBaseRegSet before use but fails to revalidate the GPU memory context when executing guest-posted commands. Exploitation requires kernel or driver software inside a guest VM to win the race; successful access crosses the guest memory boundary without a reported availability impact.
