CVE-2025-58401

GitHub account access via cleartext token storage

Published Sep 5, 2025 · Updated Sep 5, 2025

Cleartext token storage in Obsidian GitHub Copilot Plugin before 1.1.7 allows local users to access the linked GitHub account. The plugin writes the GitHub API token unencrypted to secure-credentials.dat, leaving the credential readable through local file access. Access to that file is required; a stolen token permits unauthorized operations within the token's GitHub permissions.
