Code execution via auto-approved npm lifecycle scripts
Published Sep 6, 2025 · Updated Sep 8, 2025
OS command injection in Roo Code before 3.26.0 allows local users to execute arbitrary code by opening a crafted repository. The auto-approve command allowlist treats npm install as safe, although npm automatically runs untrusted package.json lifecycle scripts such as postinstall. Exploitation requires auto-approved commands to be enabled and a malicious repository to be opened; successful scripts run with the developer's account privileges.
