CVE-2025-58364Public exploit

Adjacent service crash via malformed printer attributes

Published Sep 11, 2025 · Updated Nov 4, 2025

Improper input validation in OpenPrinting CUPS 2.4.12 and earlier allows remote attackers to crash CUPS services via a crafted IPP response. In ipp_read_io(), an extension-tag logic error leaves a string value null, and ippValidateAttributes dereferences it while validating printer attributes. A target must query an attacker-controlled printer; default Linux discovery exposes cups and cups-browsed on the local subnet, interrupting printing when they crash.
